Description

Position Summary:

The Survey Party Chief will assist in planning and executing proposed field survey activities including construction staking and other construction related surveys while maintaining daily survey notes.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for field data collection, field calculations, using proper survey procedures and construction layout for earthworks and structural construction.
  • Performs accurate measurements and calculations in recording the field data using instruments and measuring devices
  • Drives company or personal vehicle to reach jobsites
  • Identifies hazardous situations and applies safety procedures and company standards
  • Effective communicating with Survey Manager as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impacts
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of field survey methods and calculations.
  • Strong cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of survey experience including party chief experience
  • Technical school diploma or certificate in any related field considered an asset
  • Valid Driver's License required

Physical Demands and Work Environment - ALL CRAFT AND FIELD POSITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
